Car Rental Insurance Coverage in Miami — What Senda Includes

Every Senda rental includes all-risk insurance — Collision Damage Waiver (CDW), Loss Damage Waiver (LDW), and basic third-party liability. The headline rate already covers the car against damage and theft and protects you against third-party claims.

There is one optional upsell — a zero-deductible CDW — and we'll show you the math on whether it's worth it. No surprise charges, no upsell theater at the counter.

What "all-risk" means in Florida

Florida is a no-fault auto insurance state, which sounds reassuring until you read the fine print. Below is the detailed breakdown of what each component of Senda's insurance does.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

Covers damage to the rental vehicle from collision, regardless of fault. With Senda's standard CDW, you are responsible up to a deductible (shown on your quote) and Senda absorbs the rest.

Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)

Covers theft of the rental vehicle and damage from causes other than collision (vandalism, falling objects, certain weather events). Same deductible structure as CDW.

Third-party liability

Covers bodily injury or property damage you cause to someone else. Senda's basic third-party liability meets Florida minimum requirements; if you want higher limits, ask about Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI).

Optional: zero-deductible CDW upgrade

Removes the standard deductible entirely. Costs $12–$28 per day depending on vehicle category. Worth it for nervous first-time renters, valet-heavy stays in Miami Beach, and Keys road trips.

What's not covered

  • Reckless driving / DUIInsurance is void if the renter is found to have driven under the influence or in violation of traffic law.
  • Off-road drivingThe fleet is intended for paved roads. Off-road excursions void coverage.
  • Driving outside the USThe car cannot be taken into Mexico or Canada.
  • Unauthorized driversOnly listed drivers on the contract are covered. Add additional drivers at pickup; the first one is free.
  • Tire and glassSome Senda contracts include basic tire and glass coverage; some don't. Confirm at pickup.
  • Personal items inside the carUse your own homeowner's or travel insurance for personal effects.

Do you need to buy any additional insurance?

It depends on what you already have. Most US personal auto policies extend to rentals inside the US for a short window — call your insurer; they'll tell you in 30 seconds. Many credit cards offer secondary or primary CDW coverage when the rental is paid with the card. The catch: if you decline Senda's CDW, your card becomes primary, and you're personally on the hook until the card pays out. Most travelers find Senda's included CDW simpler.

If none of the above applies (international visitors are usually in this bucket), Senda's included CDW + LDW + liability is the simplest and fastest path to peace of mind. If you want zero deductible, add the upgrade for $24/day.

  6. Don't sign anything from a third party.Forward all paperwork to Senda.
FAQ

Frequently asked

Is the included insurance enough for an international visitor?
For most international visitors, yes. Senda's standard package — CDW + LDW + basic third-party liability — meets Florida's legal requirements and protects you against most realistic claims. If you want zero deductible or higher liability limits, add the upgrade at pickup.
What's the standard CDW deductible?
The deductible is shown on every written quote and depends on vehicle category. Typical ranges are $500–$1500. The zero-deductible upgrade removes it entirely.
My credit card says it covers rentals — should I decline Senda's CDW?
You can, but read the card's terms carefully. Most cards provide secondary coverage in the US, meaning your personal auto policy pays first. International travelers without a US auto policy may find that the card becomes primary — but coverage limits and exclusions vary. For a smaller out-of-pocket risk, keep Senda's included CDW.
Does insurance cover damage from hurricanes or flooding?
CDW + LDW typically covers weather damage. During an active hurricane warning, however, returning the vehicle on time and to a safe location may be required to maintain coverage. Call us if a storm is forecast during your rental.
Are the windows and tires covered?
Coverage on tires and glass varies by contract. Confirm at pickup. The zero-deductible upgrade typically extends to tires and glass — useful on Keys road trips where US-1 throws up debris.
Can I add a second driver to the insurance?
Yes. The first additional driver is included free; additional drivers beyond that are $15/day. Every additional driver must present their license at pickup. Spouses are typically included automatically.
Is roadside assistance included?
Yes, 24/7 roadside support is included for the rental duration — flat tires, lockouts, dead batteries, towing.
